3 Simple Ways To Make Mornings More Bearable

If you’re a night person, this is going to come handy!

Sleep—the one thing that stands in the way of us and our impossible to achieve to-do lists. Well, we’re not blaming you; we’re blaming the new age life. There’s always a party to go to, people to stalk on the ‘gram (we’re all guilty of this one) a TV show to catch up on.

The result of less than 8 hours of sleep (apart from seriously angry skin) is glassy eyes, less energy and therefore, reduced productivity. But worry not since we’re here to make your mornings a tad more bearable. Here are a few ways you can do that…

Do something you love, first thing in the morning

A simple hack around waking up and fighting the urge to go back to sleep is to schedule something that you would love to do first thing in the morning. Something that makes you want to get out of bed. If you feel like you should be reading more, or spending time connecting with a loved one, do it in bed as soon as you wake up. Allow yourself a little treat. Or even better, think of one thing you’re looking forward to on that day—this way even if you don’t have anything, you’ll think of something that’ll help you get through the day with a smile.

Journal, once you get into bed

Studies suggest that if you develop gratitude into a “trait” (something that is a habit), your chances of feeling low or depressed are lesser.

While we’re on the subject of mental health, another thing that helps you achieve clarity is knowing what the next day looks like. If you’re a night person, then you’d relate to that mood of feeling rushed and groggy in the morning. You don’t need to be a planner, but listing down one thing that is top priority for the next day will help you wake up feeling a sense of purpose, which will lead to a happy, healthy and productive morning!

Make breakfast the night before

All that night owl energy? Put that into prepping a hearty breakfast for the next morning—something that you could wake up looking forward to. Here’s a recipe of overnight oats in case you’re looking to start now!

What you need:

1 ½ sliced ripe bananas
½ cup uncooked oats
½ cup milk
1 tbsp yoghurt
1 tbsp honey
½ tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp nuts of your choice

Take a container and add the oats along with the milk. Layer the yoghurt, bananas and add the honey, cinnamon and nuts. Refrigerate overnight and relish in the morning!

Here’s to happy mornings, an energised you and healthy skin!
