If there is an EOD heaven, we’d bet our monies on the fact that it’s probably our masking routine. I mean seriously, what’s better than ending a painstakingly long day by indulging in some pampering me-time with a luxurious face mask on, a glass of wine and a podcast playing in the background. Bliss, right?
Speaking of bliss, isn’t your masking routine a fail if it does nothing else apart from making you feel pampered? Honestly, you take ‘worktime’ pretty seriously and that’s enough reason for you to take ‘chill-time’ equally seriously, if not more.
Masking Routine Must-Dos
It should calm your skin down
Not only do long work hours and longer commute leave you with zero time on your hands, but they also leave your skin agitated and inflamed. Your daily 101s with environmental pollution leave your skin silently screaming for a post-work cooling experience. No wonder anti-inflammatory face masks are such a rage, considering their ability to soothe distressed skin like no other.
It should leave your skin moisturised
Newsflash — you might be a fan of air-conditioning, but your skin probably isn’t. An entire day in an air-conditioned workspace sucks the moisture out of your skin. If you’re someone who loves a full face of makeup, all day, erryday, a cellular boost of hydration is right what your skin needs, once you’re ready to call it a day. And what better moisturising agent than a face mask, eh?
It should refresh dull skin
Whoever says that fatigue doesn’t show on your face, probably hasn’t seen you dragging yourself out of work on a weeknight. Just like you, your skin’s overworked too, but unlike you, it doesn’t need to wait for a Sunday to hit reset, right? Speaking of which, can you even call it ‘masktime’ if it doesn’t rejuvenate your skin and turn up the glow knob of a visibly tired complexion? We think not!
It should let you multitask
Let’s be real, you've probably got a whole other to-do list to strike through at home. Mid-week laundry, whipping up a quick dinner, making weekend plans with the girls, catching up with the fam, prepping for work next day… phew! Masks that drip or cement your face don’t really allow you to be the brilliant multitasker that you are. Your ideal mask should be non-interfering, right?
